Amazon.co.uk Review
Some DVDs in the world are completely review-proof, and season two of Hannah Montana more than fits that criteria. With a hit movie, a cinematically released concert and now a sell-out tour to her name, Miley Cyrus stars in the title role. And it’s a dual part she has to play. By day, she’s country girl Miley Stewart, the everyday girl next door. By night? That’s when she transforms into the singing sensation Hannah Montana.

It’s a simple idea behind Hannah Montana, and its success owes much to the charm and enthusiasm with which the clearly-talented Miley Cyrus tackles the role. She handles both sides of it well, and can, to her credit, also belt out a tune with some style. She does plenty of that too across the second season of Hannah Montana, as well as dealing with the challenge of putting across a character who has inevitably struggles with her dual life.

It’s certainly glossy, polished entertainment, but that doesn’t mean that Hannah Montana doesn’t hit the mark. There’s genuine talent fuelling the success of the show, and while it’s inevitably the kind of programme that parents of young daughters may dread--especially if they’ve had to listen to the accompanying music on loop too!--the truth is that this is infectious entertainment, and hard not to enjoy. And given the continuing global success of Hannah Montana, there’s a lot more of it to come, too! --Jon Foster
